We’re Qloud Games, an Australian-based indie game studio with team members hailing from around the world, and we’re developing Loftia.

Loftia blends the creative and cozy elements of beloved titles like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, embedding them within an online, persistent world. It’s our vision to provide a space for players to find their sense of belonging, and work together with the community to work toward a brighter and more hopeful future.

About The Role:

As a Senior 3D Artist, you will help shape the overall look and feel of Loftia, crafting visually stunning assets that are deeply integrated with our themes of community and sustainability. Your creations will fill a world where players can experience the world of floating sky islands, engage with community-driven content, explore a sustainable world in-the-making, and so much more!

Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality 3D assets, including detailed environments, characters, and interactive elements.
  • Ensure all 3D models comply with artistic guidelines and technical standards, focusing on optimization and performance.
  • Use advanced texturing skills in ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer to enhance the visual impact and depth of assets.
  • Collaborate with the art team to maintain a consistent style across diverse environments.
  • Mentor other artists and lead by example, promoting a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
  • Manage workflows effectively, striking the right balance between team goals and the artistic quality + player experience.
  • Proactively contribute ideas for new workflows and improvements.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with Unreal Engine.
  • A strong portfolio that explores a range of artistic styles.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and texturing software like Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer etc.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, capable of working with an internationally distributed team.
  • Shipped at least 1 game title.

Nice to Haves:

  • Degree in Game Art or a related field, demonstrating an understanding of art principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Marvelous Designer for creating cloth simulations and clothing.
  • Knowledge of FX creation with Unreal Engine’s Niagara system.
  • Experience with shipping console games.

  • Form of employment: Full-time permanent
  • Employment location: Fully remote – preference for within Australia, but all candidates will be considered
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: Competitive market rates – based on experience and location
