About Us: Sweatychair is a rather weird game development studio committed to creating innovative and captivating gaming experiences. As pioneers in the industry, we are seeking a talented Unity Game Developer to join our passionate team, the game you will be working on is Tingus Goose. We are a fast-paced development studio with a 2-week release cycle.

Job Summary:

As a Game Developer specializing in porting and localization, you will be responsible for adapting our games to run seamlessly on different platforms and ensuring they are culturally and linguistically appropriate for various regions. Your work will include technical adjustments, optimization for specific hardware, and culturalization to engage a global audience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Porting: Convert games to run on multiple platforms (e.g., from Mobile to PC and HTML5), ensuring optimal performance and quality across all versions. Our porting one of our mobile games towards the Chinese market, SDK integration knowledge and experience is a must.
  • Optimization: Work closely with the development team to optimize game performance for specific hardware, addressing challenges such as memory usage, load times, and input devices.
  • Localization: Coordinate with localization teams to adapt game content for different regions, including translating text, modifying art assets, and adjusting content to meet cultural sensitivities and legal requirements.
  • Quality Assurance Coordination: Work with QA teams to identify and fix platform-specific bugs, ensuring a consistent and bug-free user experience across all versions.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with designers, artists, and other developers to ensure a unified and coherent game experience.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in game development, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful ports across multiple platforms.
  • Deep understanding of different gaming platforms’ hardware and software constraints.
  • Expertise in programming languages commonly used in game development, such as C# and Unity Engine.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in at least one language other than English being highly desirable for localization purposes.
  • A passion for games and an understanding of various gaming cultures and preferences across different regions.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and quarterly OKR.
  • Experience with Trello, Miro, Notion, Google Sheets etc.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles to ensure a seamless player experience across platforms.
  • Knowing the different monetisation strategies between the Chinese and Western markets is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This role may require extended hours and weekend work to meet project deadlines.
  • Collaboration with international teams may necessitate irregular working hours to accommodate different time zones.
